The Accounting Specialist I is responsible for compiling, balancing, and reporting financial information on the performance and financial position of the Credit Union. Responsibilities - Maintain sound knowledge of Credit Union policy, procedures, documentation, and regulations related to area of responsibility - Balance and reconcile assigned General Ledger (GL) Accounts with supporting backup monthly or quarterly. Analyze GLs for accuracy, consistency, and compliance with policy. Inform the Accounting Manager and/or Controller of discrepancies requiring special attention. Ensure outstanding items are cleared in a timely manner and are clearly identified - Support branches/departments with financial information as needed - Process Accounts Payables, Expense Reports, and Corporate Visas - Prepare and post GL entries as needed - Ensure research and adjustments for staff discrepancies are performed in an accurate and timely manner - Establish and maintain effective coordination and communication with vendors - Demonstrate strong regulatory knowledge applicable to this position and understand and comply with government regulations with particular emphasis on the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), US Patriot Act and related regulations - Actively participate and fulfill expectations in the Credit Union Email Security Awareness Program as outlined in the Information Security Program Acknowledgement document Skills - One year to three years of similar or related experience - One-year financial institution experience preferred - Familiarity with basic accounting/bookkeeping functions preferred - Experience with Accounts Payable and Concur strongly preferred - A two-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school or completion of a specialized and extensive in-house training or apprenticeship program Benefits - IQ pays 100% of the monthly medical, dental and vision premium for you AND your dependent children. - IQ matches up to 6% of your 401(k) contributions. - 11 paid holidays plus vacation and sick time accruals. - Paid Community & Event Volunteer opportunities. - Paid Wellbeing hours to help you recharge and thrive. - Student loan repayment match up to $100 per month. - Tuition reimbursement to support your educational advancement. - An annual match to amplify your nonprofit giving.
