- District Nurse । Hawke’s Bay Fallen Soldier’s Hospital
- Permanent, Part-Time । 64 hours per fortnight (0.8 FTE)
- We have a permanent part-time position available for a Registered Nurse to work as a District Nurse in the community setting.
- This role will be within the Community Nursing Service based in either Napier or Hastings.

About the Role
The responsibility of a District Nurse is to provide clinical care in the home or clinic settings.
This includes wound care for postoperative acute wounds (including surgical drain management) chronic wounds, including assessment for, and the prevention of, complications, urinary catheter care including replacement of male, female and supra-pubic catheters, compression bandaging, management of negative pressure wound therapy, as well as management of surgical, nephrostomy and pleural drains and administration of IV antibiotics via central lines. The work is varied, rewarding and interesting.

About the Team/Service/ Location
The wider Community Nursing Service teams consist of the District Nursing teams in Napier and Hastings, the Continence, Ostomy, Better Breathing Hawkes Bay (providing respiratory and heart failure rehabilitation and Community Oxygen Therapy) and the Wound and Community Clinical Nurse Specialist teams.
The team also has the support of Clinical Nurse Coordinators, Health Care Assistants along with the administration team. The services are based at Hawkes Bay Fallen Soldiers Memorial Hospital and Napier Health Centre, requiring you to work from the either base. Referrals are received from the primary, secondary and tertiary health sectors.

About you
- You will need the following key attributes and skills:
- Previous experience working in a community setting
- 3 years post graduate experience
- Full unendorsed drivers’ licence
- Computer skills
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Reliable and trustworthy
- Previous experience working within a team
- Ability to work autonomously in a variety of settings
