POSITION SUMMARY:
The Employee (Teammate) Relations Manager leads the organization’s teammate relations function, serving as the expert on workplace investigations, ER risk management, and consistent application of policies and practices. This role is responsible for overseeing employee relations matters end‑to‑end, designing and formalizing investigation and ER processes, and equipping HR and leaders with the tools, guidance, and training needed to address employee concerns effectively and fairly.
The ER Manager partners closely with HR, HR Business Partners, Leaders, Legal, and Compliance to promote a respectful workplace, mitigate risk, and ensure consistent, legally compliant decision‑making across the organization.
POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Employee Relations Leadership
Own and oversee the organization’s employee relations approach, ensuring fair, consistent, and timely resolution of employee concerns
Serve as the escalation point for complex or high‑risk ER matters, including conduct issues, performance disputes, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and policy violations
Provide expert guidance to HR Business Partners and leaders on employee relations strategy, risk assessment, and appropriate next steps
Balance employee advocacy with organizational and legal risk considerations
Workplace Investigations
Lead the design, execution, and continuous improvement of the formal workplace investigation process, including:
Case intake and assessment
Investigation planning and scope definition
Interview standards and documentation
Evidence evaluation and findings
Outcome recommendations and closure
Conduct or oversee sensitive and complex investigations, ensuring objectivity, confidentiality, and compliance with employment laws and internal policies
Partner with Legal on investigations involving heightened legal exposure or litigation risk
Ensure investigation files and documentation meet audit, legal, and record‑retention standards
Process Design, Standardization & Tools
Formalize and document ER and investigation processes, workflows, and governance standards
Develop and maintain standardized ER tools and forms, including:
ER intake and case assessment forms
Investigation plans and interview guides
Witness and complainant statements
Findings summaries and outcome documentation
Corrective action and discipline templates
Ensure ER processes are clearly communicated, consistently applied, and scalable across the organization
Policy Interpretation & Compliance
Interpret and apply company policies, procedures, and code of conduct in a consistent and defensible manner
Identify policy gaps or areas of risk based on ER trends and investigation outcomes
Partner with Legal and Compliance to recommend policy updates and ensure alignment with applicable employment laws and regulations
Manager & HR Enablement
Coach and advise HR Business Partners and people leaders on:
Managing employee concerns and conflict
Documentation and corrective action
Performance management and behavioral issues
Design and deliver training and resources for managers and HR on:
Employee relations fundamentals
Conducting effective investigations
Preventing retaliation and ensuring fair treatment
Early intervention and risk reduction
Reporting, Trends & Continuous Improvement
Track and analyze ER and investigation data to identify patterns, systemic issues, and opportunities for improvement
Provide regular insights and recommendations to HR leadership
Drive continuous improvement in ER practices through data, feedback, and lessons learned
Performs other duties as assigned.
Up to 25% travel, as needed.
DESIRED PROFESSIONAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Law, or related field
7+ years of progressive HR experience, with deep expertise in employee relations and workplace investigations
Demonstrated experience building or formalizing ER and investigation processes
Strong working knowledge of employment laws (e.g., harassment, discrimination, retaliation, ADA, FMLA, wage & hour)
Proven ability to manage sensitive matters with sound judgment and discretion
HR certification (SHRM‑CP/SCP, PHR/SPHR)
Expert investigation and fact-finding capability
Experience partnering closely with Legal or Compliance
Excellent judgment and ability to navigate ambiguity
Influential advisor to leaders and HR peers
Process‑oriented with a continuous improvement mindset
Calm, credible presence in high‑stakes situations
Experience in multi‑site, regulated, or high‑risk environments
Familiarity with HR case management
Excellent interpersonal, verbal & written communication skills

COMPENSATION
The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $120,000. Final determinations may vary based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, geographic location etc. This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
