Role Description
We are looking for a Bioinformatics & AI App Developer who thrives in the "vibe coding" era. You aren't just a traditional coder; you are an AI-native engineer who knows how to leverage modern language models (LMs) and tools like Google AI Studio, Gemini, and Cursor to build, iterate, and deploy apps at 10x speed. You will take our initial prototypes and "vibe-coded" scripts and turn them into robust, deployed applications that handle complex biological data.
• Rapid App Deployment: Take existing "vibe-coded" prototypes and deploy them into production-ready environments.
• AI Integration: Build and maintain apps using Google AI Studio (Gemini API) and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Language Model Integration: Build LM-powered features (prompting, tool/function calling, structured outputs, retrieval over internal docs/data) for internal scientific workflows, balancing quality, latency, and cost.
• Bioinformatics Engineering: Utilize and process bioinformatics data (genomics, transcriptomics, ASO targeting) to power our internal tools.
• Full-Stack Ownership: Handle everything from front-end UI (for internal research tools) to back-end cloud infrastructure.
• AI-Assisted Development Workflow: Use GitHub Copilot (and similar tools) to accelerate implementation, refactoring, testing, documentation, and debugging while keeping code quality high.
• Collaborative Innovation: Work directly with the leadership team to translate biological needs into functional digital tools.
Qualifications
• Bio-Literacy: You have a general understanding of biology (genetics, RNA/DNA, protein and RNA folding) and experience handling bioinformatics datasets.
• AI-Native Workflow: Expert-level python and other languages, as well as "vibe coding" skills—using AI to generate, debug, and optimize code quickly.
• Google Cloud Savvy: Proficiency in Google Cloud tools (App Engine, Cloud Run, Vertex AI, BigQuery).
• LM Product Skills: Comfort with lightweight evals, prompt/versioning discipline, structured outputs, latency/cost tradeoffs, and basic monitoring/guardrails for LM features in production.
• The "Jack of All Trades" Mindset: You are comfortable being a "team of one" with some scientific and bioinformatics support/oversight for your projects, from database setup to UI/UX.
• Startup Speed: You prefer "done and deployed" over "perfecting and pending.”
Benefits
• 100% remote work model.
• Competitive compensation based on experience.
• Exposure to modern cloud, digital, and enterprise platform technologies.
• Collaborative, international team environment.
• Continuous learning and professional growth opportunities.
