Position Overview: We are seeking a passionate, certified Online Special Education Teacher to join our team in a dynamic virtual learning environment. This role is ideal for an enthusiastic professional who is committed to supporting middle and high school students and thrives in a collaborative, student-centered setting.
A key aspect of this position is partnering with general education teachers to promote student success, meeting regularly to align supports, ensure accommodations are effective, and help students fully access their coursework. A strong emphasis is placed on supporting writing development and equipping students with strategies to succeed in general education classes.
This educator will guide students in planning their weekly work, ensuring they have the tools and resources needed to succeed, and providing live, small-group instruction tailored to their needs. The role also includes facilitating end-of-week reflection meetings to build student accountability and growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide targeted, engaging virtual instruction and support for middle and high school special education students, with a strong emphasis on building writing skills to support success in general education courses.
- Collaborate regularly with general education teachers to align supports, monitor accommodations, and ensure students can fully access curriculum and instruction.
- Guide students in planning and organizing their weekly coursework, helping them develop time management, accountability, and independent learning skills.
- Deliver live, small-group instruction and individualized support sessions tailored to student needs, with an emphasis on skill-building and content reinforcement.
- Facilitate regular student check-ins, including end-of-week reflection meetings to review progress, address challenges, and set goals.
- Support the development of student writing skills by providing targeted strategies, tools, and feedback to improve performance across content areas.
- Maintain ongoing communication with students, families, and staff regarding progress, goals, and support strategies.
- Utilize digital platforms (e.g., Canvas, Zoom) and instructional tools to create an interactive and accessible virtual learning environment.
- Maintain accurate records of student engagement, progress, and compliance-related documentation.
- Contribute to the school community by teaching and supporting elective courses.
- Participate in team meetings, professional development, and collaborative planning to continuously improve student outcomes.

Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Must physically live in the United States
- Bachelor’s degree
- Valid teacher certification/endorsement in special education (or teacher certification with special education teaching experience) (issued by any U.S. state)
- Ability to quickly learn and effectively use online learning platforms and digital tools.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build positive relationships with students and families.
- Passion for online education and a commitment to student success.
- Ability to create engaging, student-centered lessons that foster curiosity and growth.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently in a remote setting.
- Must reside in the United States full-time.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Availability to work traditional business hours
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Education or related field
- Experience teaching in an online or virtual environment
