Job Description
The Workday HCM Principal Consultant serves as a senior functional leader responsible for driving the successful delivery of Workday Human Capital Management (HCM) solutions. This role partners closely with clients to understand business objectives, lead solution design, and ensure alignment with Workday best practices while mentoring project teams and supporting overall delivery excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end Workday HCM implementations, from discovery through deployment and post-go-live support
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, guiding strategic decisions and aligning solutions to business needs
- Drive design sessions and workshops, translating requirements into scalable Workday configurations
- Ensure adoption of Workday leading practices while minimizing unnecessary customization
- Oversee configuration across HCM functional areas (Core HCM, Compensation, Absence, Benefits, etc.)
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Payroll, Finance, Integrations, and Technical teams
- Provide leadership and mentorship to functional consultants and project team members
- Support data conversion, testing strategy, and user acceptance activities
- Identify risks, recommend solutions, and ensure timely resolution of issues
- Contribute to project planning, estimating, and scope management
- Support business development efforts, including demos, proposals, and client presentations
Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in HR systems, with significant experience in Workday HCM implementations
- Active Workday HCM partner certification(s) required
- Proven experience leading full lifecycle Workday implementations
- Strong knowledge of HCM business processes and best practices
- Experience working with public sector or enterprise clients preferred
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Work Environment
- Primarily remote with occasional travel for key project milestones
- Collaborative, client-facing role with cross-functional engagement
