Autonodyne LLC is a dynamic Boston-based software company working to provide additive autonomy to unmanned vehicles in land, sea, and air domains. They are searching for an Electrical Engineer to design, update, and document electrical components of surrogate uncrewed systems for testing and demonstration purposes.
Responsibilities
- Support the development of embedded electrical systems for various unmanned use cases
- Assist in digital and analog circuit design, analysis, and board bring-up activities
- Design PCBs using required tools/processes
- Create and update technical documentation such as schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, assembly diagrams, maintenance logs, standard operating procedures, and instruction manuals. Keep documentation accurate, available, and ready for use as needed
- Support the integration of embedded computing modules and associated electrical interfaces
- Contribute to the development and refinement of emerging product lines and next-generation systems
- Assist in developing and executing design verification and prototype validation testing
- Participate in technical design reviews and incorporate feedback into design updates
- Prepare and maintain engineering documentation including design descriptions, test procedures, test reports, and revision-controlled artifacts
- Support environmental and robustness testing efforts, including vibration, thermal, shock, surge, and lifecycle testing
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Flight Test, Software Engineering, Integration to support system-level development and troubleshooting
Skills
- U.S. Citizenship Required
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field
- Internship, co-op, academic project, or hands-on experience in electrical system design, robotics, embedded systems, or unmanned platforms
- Familiarity with digital and analog circuit design principles
- Exposure to PCB schematic capture and layout using tools such as Altium, OrCAD, Eagle, or similar
- Understanding of multilayer PCB fundamentals and basic mixed-signal design considerations
- Basic experience with embedded processor-based designs or breakout board development
- Experience through coursework or projects creating and documenting electrical schematics
- Familiarity with unmanned systems (UAS, UGV, USV, UUV) through coursework, projects, research, or personal interest
- Understanding of common unmanned system sensors and electronic components
- Experience with using lab equipment (Oscilloscopes, waveform generators, signal analyzer, microscope, soldering tools/methods.)
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary engineering environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and design discussion
- Must have the ability to obtain security clearance
- Internship or project experience in aerospace, defense, robotics, or autonomous systems
- Familiarity with common UAV subsystems (power distribution, motor control/ESCs, GNSS, IMUs, RF communications, telemetry links, payload integration)
- Experience supporting technical design reviews or presenting engineering work
- Experience with one or more PCB design software (Fusion preferred)
- Exposure to environmental or robustness testing (vibration, thermal, shock, EMI/EMC) is a plus
- A shareable portfolio of prior design projects is welcomed
- Experience working on cross-disciplinary teams
