Responsibilities
• Complete legal bill review audits for compliance with RLI Billing Guidelines.
• Review, analyze and audit law firm invoices to determine accuracy, reasonableness and compliance with agreed upon fee structure.
• Develop working relationship with claim adjusters and staff to process payment of legal invoices promptly.
• Document e-billing processes including specific steps for law firms.
• Propose best practices for e-billing procedures.
• Develop and test new e-billing procedures.
• Assist law firms with e-billing issues, ensure compliance with all electronic billing guidelines and timelines, ensure invoices are uploaded to correct matters and assist to remedy errors.
• Communicate situations to management that may require follow up, such as rate issues, delays in billing, difficult requests, etc.
• Advance and own all aspects of the Claim Department’s legal e-billing program, including budgets, expense tracking, ensuring vendor compliance, etc.
• Communicate with claim adjusters, as necessary, to discuss particular legal activities and their appropriateness for the defense of the claim.
• Respond effectively to billing inquiries from the law firms.
• Build and maintain working relationships with law firms.
• Assist in other duties as needed.
• Stay knowledgeable of trends in legal software
Requirements
• Typically requires a Paralegal degree
• 2+ years of related experience
• Working knowledge of legal procedure
• Ability to use analytical methods in claim processes to find workable solutions.
• Ability to generate innovative solutions within the claims department.
• Ability to communicate findings and recommendations effectively to internal and external contacts on claim department matters.
• Ability to oversee e-billing processes (matter creation, invoice review, etc.) and own the business relationships with outside counsel and key vendors for the Claims Department.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel.
